Why are artists always the first to try and talk people out of trying to succeed as an artist? Like, what other profession spends this much energy writing blog posts and think pieces about how laborious and soul-crushing it might turn out to be? Nothing in life is guaranteed! if you find something that makes you happy, and you want to chase after it, do it! There’s enough pressure against the arts without the community itself being so cynical to newcomers and dreamers.
